Program Overview
Our socio-environmental justice programs focus on environmental education and advocacy for sustainable practices. We promote clean energy initiatives, waste management solutions, and the adoption of eco-friendly practices in marginalized communities. We also engage in climate justice advocacy, highlighting the links between environmental degradation and cancer risk, particularly in areas prone to pollution and deforestation.
Key Initiatives
- Environmental education on the links between environmental health and cancer prevention
- Advocacy for policies and practices that minimize exposure to environmental hazards
- Clean energy initiatives and waste management solutions in marginalized communities
- Climate justice advocacy highlighting the impact of environmental degradation on health
Achievements
- Planted over 45,000 trees as part of our environmental conservation efforts to combat climate change and reduce environmental health risks like skin cancer in partnership with KEFRI and JMCF
- Led successful policy advocacy campaigns promoting sustainable development and better waste management practices in Kenya’s rural and informal communities.
- Fostered a culture of environmental responsibility among local populations, helping them understand the long-term impact of environmental degradation on health, particularly cancer.
Through these programs, FCSO continues to make a meaningful impact by joining hands against cancer in Kenya, addressing not only the medical needs of patients but also the social, environmental, and human rights factors that influence their lives and communities.
