Our Impact & Achievements | Transforming Lives Through Cancer Support
Since our inception in 2016 and official registration in 2019, Fadhili Cancer Support Organization (FCSO) has made significant strides in improving cancer care and support in Kenya. Our impact is measured not just in numbers but in the lives transformed and communities empowered.
Our Achievements
- Cancer Screenings: Conducted over 40 free cancer screening events across Kenya, in partnership with different hospitals and organizations, reaching communities in need since 2019.
- Support Groups: Established 11 cancer survivor support groups in marginalized communities, which continue to meet monthly to provide emotional and practical support.
- HPV Vaccination Campaign: Participated in a nationwide HPV vaccination campaign for girls under 12 years old in Migori, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Nakuru, Meru, Nairobi, and Malindi. From January to September 2022, we helped vaccinate over 20,000 girls as a preventive measure for cervical cancer.
- Health Insurance Coverage: In collaboration with partners, we have paid for full-year Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) premiums for over 212 cancer patients since 2019, ensuring access to treatment and care.
- Cancer Awareness Campaigns: Led advocacy and awareness initiatives in Nairobi, Kilifi, Machakos, Meru, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kisumu, Busia, and Siaya counties, educating communities on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
- Environmental Conservation & Cancer Prevention: Participated in tree planting initiatives in Busia, Kilifi, Mombasa and Machakos Counties (Since October 2021 to date) to combat climate change and reduce skin cancer risks associated with environmental degradation.
- Advocacy Against Environmental Pollution: Led a walk at Uhuru Gardens (September 2019) to raise awareness about the risks of environmental pollution and GMOs, highlighting their role in cancer prevention.
- Environmental Education: Promoted environmental conservation in Siaya County (March 2022), educating residents on the links between environmental health and cancer prevention.
- Community Cancer Education: Partnered with Kenya Network of Cancer Organizations to implement social behavior change communication initiatives in Busia County, spreading cancer prevention knowledge and resources where over 5100 residents directly reached.
- Policy Advocacy: In July 2025, published an article in The Standard Newspaper advocating for policy changes to lower transportation costs for cancer patients in marginalized areas, making treatment more accessible.
- Climate Justice Education: In 2025, partnered with Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) to educate Mombasa County residents on climate justice, its impact on health, and how conservation efforts contribute to cancer prevention.
- Cancer Walks: Organized and participated in over 26 cancer awareness walks across Nairobi and other regions of Kenya, raising awareness and encouraging early detection practices.
- Cancer Awareness Campaigns Information dissemination conducted in various counties such as Nairobi, Mombasa, Machakos, Meru, Mandera, Busia, Siaya and Nakuru.
- Palliative Care: Bridged the gap between patients and palliative care services by strengthening hospice initiatives, providing holistic support to cancer patients and their families. Each year, at least 20 cancer warriors within our support groups are connected to palliative care, ensuring dignity, comfort, and improved quality of life in advanced stages of illness.
- Between 2022 – 2025, we educated over 90,000 high school and college girls on breast self-examination to promote early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer. As part of FCSO breast cancer awareness campaign.
