Program Overview
Fadhili Cancer Support Organization runs legal clinics to offer free legal counsel and support to cancer patients facing discrimination or barriers to accessing treatment. We also spearhead advocacy campaigns against the stigma and discrimination cancer patients often face, ensuring their rights are upheld. Additionally, we offer empowerment initiatives, helping individuals and communities understand their legal rights and access justice.
Key Initiatives
- Legal clinics offering free legal counsel and support to cancer patients facing discrimination
- Advocacy campaigns against stigma and discrimination faced by cancer patients
- Empowerment initiatives helping individuals and communities understand their legal rights
- Information dissemination on cancer prevention, treatment, and patients' rights
Achievements
- Protected the rights of over 9,000 cancer patients through legal interventions and advocacy, ensuring they receive fair treatment and access to healthcare services.
- Empowered and trained over 570 community healthcare promoters (CHPs) in communities by disseminating critical information about cancer patients’ rights, leading to increased legal awareness and self-advocacy.
- Successfully campaigned for improved policies and healthcare reforms to support marginalized cancer patients, especially in informal settlements.
Through these programs, FCSO continues to make a meaningful impact by joining hands against cancer in Kenya, addressing not only the medical needs of patients but also the social, environmental, and human rights factors that influence their lives and communities.
